The Tears of Aset Dancers is a Frederick-based belly dance troupe formed in January
2002 and is directed by Sitamun. Our name comes from the Ancient Egyptian
Goddess Aset, who's tears signaled the first day of the Nile River's Inundation. Tears of
Aset uses traditional style dances and costuming of Turkey, North Africa, Persia, India,
and Spain with their own flare. The troupe has entertained audiences along the East Coast from Pennsylvania to North Carolina.
We incorporate sword-balancing, zills (finger cymbals), wooden spoons,
trays, canes, basket, fans, tambourines and veil dances for our audience's enjoyment.
We perform at: schools, restaurants, Renaissance Fairs, community festivals,
retirement centers, haflas, and other family-oriented events.
