Meleya Lef
The Melaya Lef became popular when many of Cairo’s famous performers such as Fifi Abdo and Reda Troupe develop choreographies as parodies of these ladies and the street language of the Melaya. Melaya Lef is a large black cloak or veil designed to fit loosely and cover the female form completely. The dance is playful and flirtatious with the ladies hiding their body in the black cloak and allowing the audience to get a peek. It was used by Egyptian women in the 1930 and 40's. Most notably are the women of Alexandria who developed a flirtatious language with the Melaya. The music used is up tempo and colloquial lyrics. Hip moves are playful and bouncy. These urban ladies became very skilled at using the language of the Melaya to find a suitor. Considered by many a folkloric dance from Alexandria it is sometimes called the Eskandarani or Iskandarani.

Waiver: Belly Dance is considered muscle-toning low impact aerobic exercise, be sure to check with your doctor before starting this or any exercise program. By signing student also agrees to adhere to the class policies stated on website. I understand that Belly Dancing includes physical activity and movements, like any physical activity the risk of injury is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. If you experience any pain doing a movement listen to your body and stop.

Drop Out Policy: Students at the Frederick 24/7 Dance Studio & Hagerstown My Pilate's classes the drop-out policy is as follows: If you find you cannot attend class, please notify me immediately by email. Unless the class is cancelled due to lack of minimum students required, all refunds will be less the $20 non-refundable fee. No refunds after the first day of Fall and Winter Sessions. Please understand there will be no exceptions to our student drop-out policy.
Payment: Payments must accompany the registration form. Summer Class is a 5-week sessions of $55 payable in full by the first class. Fall and Winter Sessions are 6 week sessions cost $65. Enrollments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Students can make-up missed classes at either location, the Zill Unless the class is cancelled there will be no refunds or credits. Drop-in charge or pay-as-you-go is $18 per class.
