Beginner Level 1
Class 1 hour. This class is where the foundations are taught. Classes include a warm-up; basic posture, hip work such as lifts and drops figure 8s, circles, pushes and snaps, arm movements, traveling steps, and cool down. Shimmies and zills(finger cymbals) will be introduced. Group improvisation plus if time permits a specific choreography will be taught. The history of Belly Dance is also discussed. Students will be required to purchase their own zills(finger cymbals) a list of vendors is provided on the Vendor Page. Prerequisite: none. Cost: See Info Below. Note: No Refund after first class.

Continuation Level 2
Continuation Classes will be learning a new routine.
A Portion of the Continuation Class will be devoted to warm-ups, strength conditioning and combinations used in the choreography. Each Session will have a different theme, for example: Undulations or Layered Hip Moves. Various Topics such as Costuming, Make-up, Taxim, musical sensitivity & history will be discussed. Part of class will be dedicated to learning the combinations for the set choreography that will be performed in recital. Class will focus on learning the choreography but we will also reveiw technique.
Prerequisite: Proficiency of Basic Beginner Class Level 1 or permission of instructor. Cost: See below. Note: No Refund after first class.

Performance Prep Workshop

This workshop will prepare students who wish to perform their own solo at recital but don‘t know where to start. Students will learn how to break down the music into segments and how to create movement to represent the music being played. This class is suited best for those who have had 2 years dance study. This class will focus on teaching the student to develop their own choreographs and routines. Student should have good working knowledge of belly dance and be comfortable dancing without guidance or prompting from an instructor for two minutes to a medium song this can be your own designed impromptu or a routine you have learned in class. Student’s enrolling in this class will need to select a 2 to 3 minute song for there solo, so purchasing a Music Cd or download muisc from I-tunes is required. Workshops will be broken in to 2 parts will included lecture at the begining and listening to music during the second part. Class will be 3 hours.
Prerequisite: Level 1 or permission of instructor.

Nubian Dance Workshop

Nubian dance isn't really bellydance but more of a folk dance. Nubian music and dance has a growing number of fans especial in Egypt where the music and dance have taken on a new revival on the belly dance stages with many famous stars adding it in their folkoric section. This workshop will be great for people who enjoy folk dance as well as anyone who is interested in the dances of Africa. It is a suitable workshop for people who have never study bellydance.

Private Lessons
Private lessons can be held at either Sitamun’s home or one of the studios. Space can be rented at a dance studio and fees vary according to length of the lesson and studio costs. Cost for private lesson $35 per hour. Semi-private lessons are also available. If you need help with a choreography come with your ideas written down and your music. Note: If you want Sitamun to create and teach you a choreography the cost is $65 per hour. Private Lessons are not recommended for beginners.
